Our Mission: As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission is to provide the resources for young, ambitious chess players from the Austin Area to improve their chess while having fun in the process!
How do we do it?
- Lectures take place every Saturday at Spicewood Springs Library, starting at 1:30 p.m. A copy of lecture presentations can be found on the Lectures page of our website.
- Exercises, which the student is to take home and work on by her/himself, are provided at the end of each lecture. The exercises are designed to keep the student engaged and solidify material covered during lectures. A copy of the exercises can also be found on the Lectures page.
- Tournaments: we firmly believe that tournament play is integral to the improvement of any chess player. We work hard to organize ACA tournaments for talented young players with much lower entry fees than comparable events.
- Private Lessons are available for particularly ambitious players looking for a one-on-one learning experience. All revenue from private lessons goes directly towards funding venues for ACA tournaments. See the Private Lessons page for more information.
